Teams will be formed by age/grade groups and will meet Thursdays during times specified above. This program is offered subject to minimum registration. FIRST LEGO League Challenge (Ages 9-14)
Tomorrow’s innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Guided by two or more adult Coaches, FIRST LEGO League* teams (up to 10 members, ages 9-14) research a real-world problem related to sports. They must design, build, program a robot using LEGO SPIKE PRIME®, then compete on a table-top playing field.
It all adds up to tons of fun while they learn to apply science, technology, engineering, and math concepts (STEAM), plus a big dose of imagination, to solve a problem. Along their journey, they develop critical thinking and team-building skills, basic STEM applications, and even presentation skills, as they must present their solutions with a dash of creativity to judges. They also practice the Program’s Core Values, which emphasize discovery, teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Teams will participate in a local competition in December, if available, and may advance to regional competitions from there.
If you are interested in creating your own team and requesting an AAALC staff member mentor/coach the group, please contact the office directly at 341-1400.
