July 14 - 18
Eating Our Way Through STEAM (Entering Grades PreK - 6th)
This delicious trip into STEM will cook up some chemistry, melt into math and complete excellent edible engineering projects. Using everyday snacks, crazy candy and cool food items, campers will study various science, technology, engineering and math concepts related to food! Have you ever done math with M&M’s? Do you know how to bounce an egg? What foods “blow up” when you put them together? This is a fun, interactive camp that engages children from start to finish. Note: Campers will be exposed to many kinds of foods and food prep. Please do not register your child for this camp if he/she has food allergies that will be dangerous to participation.
Magical World of Disney (Entering Grades PreK - 6th)
Build Elsa’s castle and Moana’s canoe to withstand a storm! Engineer an underwater escape route for Ariel. Mix potions for Honey Lemon in Big Hero 6 and create a roadster for Mickey Mouse! How do roller coasters work? Can you build one? Campers will join us as we STEAM into the wonderful world of all things Disney and discover some of the secrets behind the magic. Campers will take virtual tours and learn some tricks they use to create this magical world!
DNA to Dissection (Entering 1st-6th grade)
Do you know that you can pull the DNA out of a strawberry or banana or even a fertilized chicken egg? Do you know how to build a DNA strand that you can eat? Have you observed what’s inside different animals and what makes humans healthy? Future doctors, or simply budding scientists who are insatiably curious, will experience the wonder of humans, plants and animals and discover what makes them tick! Hands-on experiences, virtual dissection and actual dissection will occur but will be age appropriate and will be taught in conjunction with a respect and admiration for nature, animals and the world around us.
Minecraft Education: A-maz-ing Mazes (Entering Grades 1st - 8th)
Campers will take a trip that carries them through various mazes, ultimately creating their own as they complete challenges that require them to think critically and plan ahead. This camp will be a week filled with science, technology, engineering and math skills via an a-maze-ing format!
3D Design, Coding and Printing (Entering Grades 4th through 8th)
Students will learn the intricacies of 3D design and printing. They will find and create models through various available software programs and then prepare the model for printing on a 3D printer by making design adjustments, creating code and managing printer functions. Various project options will be offered, and students will bring home a final project at the end of the week. Campers will be provided with tips/tricks to use at home to continue the design portion of their learning after camp is over.
